I'd almost prefer a list of GOOD brands that are still stand-alone operations maintaining their good reputation over a list of who to avoid, but this is better than no list. I have an Eddie Bauer jacket I bought when my kids were little for $60-$80 and I wore it most days Nov. thru March. My kids are 23 now and I wore that jacket to work today. Best jacket I've ever owned. I had to have the zipper replaced but otherwise it's been great. I don't know where Eddie Bauer sits now as far as quality is concerned but it was good back then.
